WANA (Aug 07) – Following the collapse of an operational plan aimed at regime change in Iran, the head of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency has dismissed two high-ranking officials.

 

The director of the Mossad removed two senior figures within the agency, including the head of the Intelligence Directorate and the head of the Iran Division, over the failure of an operational scheme targeting the overthrow of the Iranian government.

 

According to a report by Israel’s Channel 12, the decision to dismiss these officials stemmed from the Mossad chief’s view that those who authored and supervised the plan must bear the consequences of its failure.

 

The network added that the dismissed officials were directly involved in formulating and executing the plan, which was presented to U.S. President Donald Trump.

 

Per the report, the strategy relied on collaborating with certain minority groups inside Iran to trigger regime change and install new leadership, but it ultimately failed to materialize in practice.

 

Citing security sources, Channel 12 noted that relations between the Mossad chief and the two officials had been strained from the outset, and their departure was concluded by mutual agreement. However, the timing of the decision was not entirely unexpected, as the two were the primary architects of a plan that Israeli accounts acknowledge ended in failure.
