WANA (Jun 12) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, has condemned recent U.S. attacks on Indian commercial vessels, describing them as acts of “armed robbery and piracy” that pose a serious threat to international shipping, as well as global peace and security.

 

In a statement released early Friday, June 13, Baghaei shared an image of a report published by an Indian newspaper detailing U.S. attacks on three Indian commercial ships in recent days. According to the report, the incidents, which have occurred since June 8, resulted in the deaths of at least three Indian citizens.

 

“The brutal U.S. attacks on Indian commercial vessels, which have led to the killing of at least three Indian nationals, are the outcome of the U.S. government’s policy of armed theft and maritime piracy,” Baghaei said.

 

He also expressed condolences to the families and friends of the deceased sailors and extended sympathy to the people and government of India.

 

Baghaei called for the United States to be held accountable for its actions, arguing that the international community should not remain silent in the face of conduct that violates international law.

 

According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, such actions not only endanger maritime security but also undermine the principle of freedom of navigation.

 

“The international community must hold the United States accountable for its unlawful behavior,” Baghaei stated, adding that these actions constitute a threat to global peace and security and jeopardize the freedom of navigation.
