WANA (Jun 05) – The United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) claimed on Friday that it seized an oil tanker during an overnight operation, alleging the vessel is connected to Iran.

 

In a statement published on the social media platform X, the U.S. command asserted: “U.S. forces conducted an overnight maritime interdiction and boarding operation against the stateless and sanctioned vessel MT Davina, which was located in the Indian Ocean within the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command’s area of responsibility.”

 

The message further claimed: “We will continue to enforce maritime laws globally to disrupt illegal networks and intercept vessels supporting Iran anywhere in the world.”

 

Tehran Remains Silent on U.S. Claims

As of now, Iranian officials have not issued any comments regarding whether the country has any connection to the seized vessel.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions following the maritime blockade caused by the United States.

 

Following a ceasefire agreement declared with Iran in April, Washington took steps to blockade Iranian waters—an action that has broadly disrupted global shipping and maritime traffic.
