U.S. Destroyer Turns Back Following Firm Warning from Iran
WANA (Apr 11) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, in an interview with IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting), referred to “instances of potential ceasefire violations” that were prevented by the immediate reaction and notice of the diplomatic apparatus and the firm warning of the armed forces.
Investigations show that the spokesperson was referring to a case involving a U.S. destroyer moving from the port of Fujairah toward the Strait of Hormuz, which met with an immediate reaction from the armed forces.
Monitoring and Communication
Based on the investigations, the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while accurately monitoring the position of this destroyer, reflected the matter to the negotiating team in Pakistan.
The Iranian delegation immediately conveyed the issue to the American side through the Pakistani mediator. Simultaneously, a serious warning was given to the destroyer that it would be targeted if it approached the Strait of Hormuz.
The 30-Minute Ultimatum
Iran explicitly informed the Pakistani mediator: “If the movement of the ship continues, it will be targeted within 30 minutes, and the Iran-U.S. negotiations will also be damaged.”
According to reports, the firm reaction of the armed forces, along with the warning and follow-up by the negotiating team, caused the order to stop to be issued to this ship.
Coordination Praised
This responsible and firm approach by Iran, which is a sign of close accompaniment and coordination between the armed forces and the diplomatic apparatus, was highly praised by the Pakistani mediator.
Axios Report on U.S. Vessel Entering Strait of Hormuz Denied
Further, in a separate statement to IRIB, a senior military official denied claims made by Axios regarding a U.S. military vessel passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to this report, the U.S. naval vessel was issued a warning that it would be targeted within 30 minutes if it continued its movement toward the Strait.
The firm and explicit warning from Iran’s armed forces successfully prevented the U.S. vessel from approaching the Strait of Hormuz.
