WANA (Jun 08) – The spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee said Iran’s recent missile operation against Israel was successful and claimed that U.S. efforts to intercept the missiles had failed.

Speaking to Al Jazeera on Monday evening, Ebrahim Rezaei said Tehran attaches no importance to the remarks of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stressing that any ceasefire must be implemented across all fronts, including Lebanon.

Rezaei also warned that if Israel carries out further attacks on Beirut, it would face a harsher response. According to him, the region’s security landscape has changed following the recent war against Iran, leading to the emergence of new security arrangements and strategic realities.

The Iranian lawmaker emphasized that regional security should be maintained by the countries of the region themselves, without any role for the United States or Israel. He added that Iran would not allow the region’s security and geopolitical order to return to its pre-war state.

Rejecting U.S. claims that it was not involved in Israel’s recent attacks on Iran, Rezaei said Iranian intelligence indicates that Washington assisted Israel during the strikes. He further claimed that U.S. forces attempted to intercept Iranian missiles but were unsuccessful.

Addressing the issue of negotiations, Rezaei stated that Tehran is in no hurry to resume talks with Washington and has never requested negotiations with the United States. According to him, it is the U.S. that has been seeking renewed diplomatic engagement.
