WANA (Jun 27) – The U.S. State Department has issued a statement interpreting the agreement between Lebanon and Israel in a manner fully aligned with the remarks of Benjamin Netanyahu, effectively giving the Israeli regime room to violate the first clause of the memorandum of understanding with Iran.

 

In its statement, the State Department asserted: “This agreement establishes a clear and defined process for restoring Lebanon’s sovereignty, disarming Hezbollah, and dismantling Israeli-related infrastructure, while allowing Israel to return to its own borders once the threat to its citizens has been eliminated.”

 

The statement is fully consistent with Netanyahu’s position that a complete withdrawal from Lebanese territory will take place only after the “northern threat” has been eliminated and Hezbollah has been fully disarmed.

 

This statement constitutes a clear violation of the first clause of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, which commits Washington to maintaining the ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon.
