U.S. History Shows It Is Not Trustworthy, Mojaherani Says
WANA (Sep 02) – The Iranian Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mojaherani said in her weekly press conference that the history of the United States has shown it is not a trustworthy country, stressing that Iran will act according to its national interests.
In response to a question about the conditions set by the Europeans for negotiations, Mojaherani stated: “The condition of the three European countries is strange. These three countries did not abide by any of their commitments after 2018 and did nothing, yet today they are putting forward a condition that, from our point of view, is both unlawful and illegal. This shows that the three European countries think less about their independence and view all issues through another country.”
She added: “The history of the United States has shown that it is not a reliable country, and naturally, we will do whatever is deemed necessary in line with our national interests and the consensus of the system.”
Mojaherani also said that specialized institutions exist in the country to address such matters. “Some of these institutions have advisory roles, and certainly, on issues such as withdrawal from international treaties related to national security, if the system as a whole reaches a unified conclusion, the matter will be officially announced,” she explained.
Government Seeks to Use Diplomacy to Prevent Sanctions
In response to a question about the measures considered in case the snapback mechanism is activated and sanctions are intensified, the spokesperson said:
“The government is making every effort to keep this issue away from the country through diplomacy and to demonstrate the illegality of its implementation. But, as with other issues that have occurred in the past, the government has anticipated the necessary measures and has prepared clear plans and scenarios so that the people, especially regarding medicines and essential goods, will not face problems.”
