WANA (Jun 10) – Critical water infrastructure in eastern Hormozgan Province was damaged during U.S. strikes on southern Iran early Wednesday, causing significant disruption to the water supply network in Sirik County.

 

Abdolhamid Hamzepour, CEO of the Hormozgan Water and Wastewater Company, announced that two strategic water storage reservoirs in the Bamani district of Sirik were completely destroyed in a missile attack that occurred in the early hours of June 10, 2026.

 

According to Hamzepour, the damaged facilities included a 500-cubic-meter reservoir and a 2,000-cubic-meter reservoir, both of which played a key role in supplying drinking water to the region.

 

He stated that water distribution to all villages in the Bamani district has been suspended as a result of the attack. Emergency response teams and crisis management personnel are currently working to implement alternative measures and restore a stable water supply for local residents.

 

The strike came as the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced military operations against targets in southern Iran. CENTCOM claimed that the attacks were carried out in response to the reported downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter.

 

U.S. President Donald Trump also stated in an interview with ABC News that the strikes were intended as a response to the helicopter incident, describing them as a “strong and powerful” reaction.

 

At the same time, reports emerged of explosions across several locations in Hormozgan Province, including Bandar Abbas, Minab, Jask, Qeshm, and Sirik. Local sources also reported multiple explosions in eastern parts of the province, including Sirik and Kouhestak, along with increased air defense activity in some areas.

 

In Qeshm Island, local reports indicated that several explosions occurred as a result of hostile projectiles, with at least one site reportedly being targeted. Further details regarding the extent of the damage or any potential casualties have not yet been released.

 

Local authorities and emergency services are continuing to assess the impact of the attacks, and additional information is expected to be released as investigations progress.
