WANA (Jun 06) – Images of a vessel seized by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz have surfaced online, drawing significant attention amid rising regional tensions. According to official reports, the ship was detained for violating maritime regulations and navigation procedures in the strategically important waterway.

 

The cargo vessel, reportedly owned by the U.S.-based company Arista, was seized during developments that unfolded in the Strait of Hormuz early Friday. Photos of the vessel have since circulated widely on social media.

 

In a statement, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that four tankers had attempted to leave the Strait of Hormuz without authorization and in coordination with what it described as the “aggressor U.S. military,” despite repeated warnings from the IRGC Navy. According to the statement, one of the vessels was struck and forced to stop after ignoring the warnings, while the other three turned back.

 

The IRGC further claimed that U.S. drones subsequently targeted a telecommunications tower on Qeshm Island and another facility in the city of Sirik. In response, Iran launched ballistic missile strikes against two U.S. air bases in Kuwait and key remaining facilities of the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, the statement said.
