U.S. Sanctions Against Iran Are Economic Terrorism and Crimes Against Humanity
WANA (Apr 16) – Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has condemned recent threats from the U.S. Treasury Secretary regarding the escalation of sanctions, labeling such policies as “economic terrorism.”
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Baghaei slammed the ethical justifications often used by Washington to implement restrictive measures.
“It is utterly abominable how policies that deliberately inflict pain and suffering on innocent people are presented with smug self-righteousness,” he wrote, adding that such rhetoric exposes an “inhumane mindset.”
The spokesperson further characterized the U.S. approach as state-sponsored extortion. He argued that these actions transcend simple policy disagreements, asserting they “amount to crimes against humanity and, in their cumulative effect, constitute genocide.”
