WANA (Jun 25) – The U.S. Senate early Thursday rejected, for the tenth time, a proposal aimed at restricting the president’s authority to take military action against Iran.

 

During the vote, senators opposed a measure that would have required President Donald Trump to obtain congressional approval before undertaking any further military action against Iran. According to CBS News, the proposal failed by a vote of 50–47.

 

Reacting to the outcome, Trump wrote on his official Truth Social account that the Senate had changed its vote on Iran from “50–48 against” to “50–47 in favor,” thanking Senate Majority Leader John Thune, Lindsey Graham, Bernie Moreno, and others. He added that the vote “puts Iran on notice.”

 

The Senate vote came just one day after four Republican lawmakers supported a separate war powers resolution in the House of Representatives aimed at limiting Trump’s military authority. Their votes allowed that measure to pass by a narrow margin.
