U.S. Strikes Reported in Southern Iran
WANA (Jul 16) – Multiple explosions were reported overnight in Iran’s southern Hormozgan Province after what Iranian authorities described as U.S. military strikes targeted areas near Sirik, Qeshm, and Bandar Abbas.
According to Iranian officials, the first strike occurred near Sirik at approximately 1:55 a.m. local time, followed two minutes later by additional impacts near Qeshm. Further explosions were later reported east of Bandar Abbas, including blasts heard from the direction of the sea.
Hormozgan provincial authorities said a section of a fish meal factory in Suza, on Qeshm Island, sustained limited damage. They added that the facility was unoccupied at the time of the strike, and no injuries were reported.
Officials also stated that, based on preliminary assessments, no civilian casualties or damage to residential or commercial infrastructure had been reported. Authorities said investigations into the incidents are ongoing and that further details will be released after initial assessments are completed.
