U.S. Support for Israel Blocks Any Cooperation with Iran
WANA (Nov 03) – Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stated today that U.S. support for Israel, despite the regime’s widespread condemnation in global public opinion, makes any request for cooperation with Iran “meaningless and unacceptable.” He added that only if the U.S. completely ends its support for Israel, withdraws its military bases from the region, and ceases its interventions could future cooperation be considered — a scenario he emphasized is not imminent.
Speaking to thousands of Iranian students, young people, and families of the fallen during the 12 day war on the eve of November 4, the “National Student Day” marking the 1979 U.S. embassy seizure, Ayatollah Khamenei recounted the longstanding U.S. hostility toward Iran, dating back to the 1953 coup, describing it as a “fundamental conflict” between U.S. interests and those of the Islamic Republic.
“The main cause of the U.S.’s various plots against the revolution is that a valuable asset has been taken from its grasp, ending its dominance over Iran’s resources,” he said. Ayatollah Khamenei recalled U.S. actions ranging from sanctions, plotting, and supporting Saddam Hussein’s war against Iran, to downing a civilian airliner carrying 300 passengers, highlighting that these are not isolated incidents but the natural result of America’s opposition to Iran’s independence.
Addressing misconceptions that Iran’s anti-U.S. slogans provoke American hostility, Iran’s Supreme Leader clarified: “Some write history backward. They attribute the disagreement between the Islamic Republic and America to your ‘Death to America’ (the Iranians’ slogan) — that is naïve. Whoever imagines that because a nation chants a slogan such as ‘Death to America,’ the enemy will therefore oppose them for that reason — no.”

He added, “The slogan ‘Death to America’ is not such an important issue that Americans would oppose Iran because of it. The real issue is an intrinsic disagreement, an essential incompatibility; it is a conflict of interests between two currents: the American current and the current of the Islamic Republic.”
Responding to questions about the possibility of future relations with the U.S., he stressed that America’s nature “accepts nothing but submission.” He described any expectation that Iran would yield as “meaningless,” emphasizing that the solution to many national challenges lies in strengthening the country across military, scientific, managerial, and youth-driven sectors.
“Some ask, ‘Well, Supreme Leader, now that we have not surrendered to America, does that mean we will never have relations with America — that we will oppose America forever?’ The answer is this: first, the nature of American arrogance accepts nothing but submission, Iran’s Supreme Leader stated.”
“All American presidents want this, but did not say it aloud; this current president said it aloud and said Iran must surrender. In doing so, he revealed America’s true nature. For a nation like Iran — with all its capabilities, with all its wealth, with this intellectual and spiritual background, with so many alert and motivated young people — what would surrendering mean?, he added.”
“The country must become strong,” he said. “If the enemy realizes that engaging with a strong Iran brings no benefit and only harm, the nation will be protected.”

Ayatollah Khamenei also clarified that U.S. claims of willingness to cooperate are incompatible with its continued support for Israel.
“Cooperation with Iran is not compatible with cooperating with and aiding the accursed Zionist regime. Given the situation that the whole world has seen recently, that the whole world has understood and condemned, that America helps, supports, and backs it, cooperation with Iran makes no sense; it is not acceptable. Yes, if they were to completely stop supporting the Zionist regime, withdraw their military bases from here, and refrain from intervening in this region, then matters could be examined. But that is not for now. It is not for the near future either.”
In his closing remarks, the Supreme Leader urged young Iranians to deepen their knowledge of the country’s past, present, and future political issues, while advancing scientific and military capabilities. He praised the nation’s military progress and vowed that Iran will continue to demonstrate its strength and independence.
Marking the anniversary of the 1979 embassy takeover, Khamenei described November 4 as a day of “pride and victory” and as a moment when the “true identity of the arrogant U.S. government was revealed.”
