U.S. Targets Iranian Financial Networks with New Sanctions
WANA (May 01) – The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced on Friday that Washington has imposed new sanctions related to Iran against six individuals, 21 entities, and one vessel.
According to a statement from the department, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned three Iranian foreign exchange houses and their affiliated companies.
These actions were taken under the “Economic Rage” plan and in line with ongoing efforts to disrupt Iran’s financial resources.
The statement specified that these sanctions target five Iranian citizens, including three dual nationals, as well as one Chinese national.
Among the sanctioned entities, 12 are based in China, three in Iran, five in the United Arab Emirates, and one in the United Kingdom. Additionally, a Panama-flagged oil tanker named “New Fusion” has been added to the sanctions list.
