WANA (Jul 24) – A U.S. Tomahawk cruise missile was intercepted and destroyed over Kahnuj County in Iran’s Kerman Province, according to the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Kahnuj.

 

Colonel Hassan Sanjari said the missile was detected during continuous monitoring of Iran’s airspace and was engaged by missile units stationed in the area. He stated that the missile was destroyed before it could reach residential areas or other sensitive security sites.

 

According to Sanjari, the interception was carried out by the Kahnuj IRGC’s Air Security Team as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard the country’s airspace. He warned that any unauthorized incursion or violation of Iranian airspace would be met with a decisive response from Iran’s armed forces, adding that the IRGC’s air defense units remain on full alert to ensure the security of the region.

 

The commander also thanked the deputy for operations of the Kahnuj IRGC, as well as the commander and Basij forces of the Kahnuj Tribal District, for their role in the operation.
