WANA (Aug 19) – The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced late Tuesday that it has suspended all trade and financial activities and transactions with Iran until further notice.

 

In a statement released by Afra al-Hameli, Director of Strategic Communications at the ministry, the UAE asserted that the measure was taken in response to escalating regional tensions that threaten international peace and security.

 

While rejecting accusations regarding its economic policies, the ministry maintained that the suspension aligns with its commitment to preserving the integrity of the international financial system according to global standards.

 

Al-Hameli also reiterated the UAE’s official stance emphasizing dialogue, cooperation, and regional integration as essential tools for stability and prosperity.

 

The move follows a prior announcement by the UAE Ministry of Defense alleging that two ballistic missiles were fired by Iran toward the country, with one landing in regional waters and the other outside its territorial waters.

 

In response, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs categorically rejected the allegation, condemning the UAE’s actions and statements as contrary to the principles of good neighborliness and disruptive to ongoing efforts aimed at fostering regional trust.
