WANA (Aug 21) – The UK government announced new sanctions on one individual and four entities, claiming they are part of a network that supports Tehran’s overseas activities, including in Ukraine and the occupied territories.

According to a statement published online, the measures include the freezing of assets belonging to Hossein Shamkhani and four Iranian companies active in the shipping, petrochemical, and financial sectors.

Shamkhani was also sanctioned by the United States last month.

The UK further alleged that this network has facilitated what it described as Iran’s “hostile activities,” including attempts to destabilize the UK and other countries.

Under the sanctions, any assets held in Britain will be frozen, and UK individuals and businesses are prohibited from conducting transactions with the designated parties. UK flag
