UN Condemns Killing of Iranian Scientists’ Families
WANA (Jul 01) – The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights said on Tuesday that the killing of family members of Iranian nuclear scientists by Israel constitutes a gross violation of international law.
The assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists along with their family members by the Israeli regime has drawn a reaction from the United Nations.
Official spokesperson for the UN Human Rights Office, said on Tuesday that the killing of Iranian civilians by Israel is a blatant breach of international law.
In an interview, spokesperson explained: “Civilians are defined as individuals who are not members of armed forces, and attacks against them constitute a gross violation of international humanitarian law.”
The spokesperson added: “We are aware that several family members of [Iranian nuclear] scientists have also been killed in these attacks. The families of scientists are entitled to the same protection as any other civilians.”
Previously, the spokesperson for Iran’s Judiciary had announced that during the 12-day war imposed by the Israeli regime, 935 people were killed, including 38 children and 102 women.
