WANA (Jun 11) – A cargo vessel originating from the Sirik county of Hormozgan province was struck by a US projectile in the Sea of Oman early Thursday morning, local officials reported.

 

Reza Shahidian, the Governor of Sirik, confirmed the incident, stating, “Early this morning, a projectile from the American enemy hit a cargo barge belonging to the people of Sirik in the Sea of Oman.”

 

According to the governor, the 150-ton vessel was transporting essential commercial goods and had departed from the Omani port city of Khasab at approximately 5:00 AM local time, heading toward Sirik.

 

“The vessel was struck by the enemy projectile five miles off the coast of Khasab,” Shahidian added.

 

The boat was carrying five crew members at the time of the attack.

 

Governor Shahidian noted that all five individuals were successfully rescued by nearby passing vessels and have been safely transferred back to Oman.
