US Threatens Renewed Naval Blockade on Iran Following Fresh Airstrikes
WANA (Jul 08) – Following a series of newly launched US military strikes inside Iranian territory, Washington officials have threatened to reimpose a comprehensive naval blockade on Iran, according to American media reports.
The development comes shortly after the US Central Command (CENTCOM) released an official statement explicitly confirming the fresh wave of aggressive airstrikes against targets in Iran.
According to reports, US officials warned that military assets are prepared for further escalation. “Our warships are on standby to blockade Iranian ports again if President Trump makes the decision,” the officials stated.
Additional details regarding the targets inside Iran emerged through other US media outlets. Axios, quoting an American official, reported that the strikes targeted air defense and coastal surveillance systems, surface-to-air and anti-ship cruise missile sites, drone launch facilities, and port installations across southern Iran.
Meanwhile, CNN reporter Zachary Cohen quoted a US official who characterized the nature of the operation as highly aggressive, claiming, “These strikes were punitive, not proportional, and they are not going to end anytime soon.”
