Velayati Calls for Total Withdrawal of Foreign Military Forces

WANA (Aug 08) – Ali Akbar Velayati, senior international affairs advisor to the Supreme Leader, called for the total withdrawal of foreign military forces from the region, asserting that local security must be maintained exclusively by regional nations.

In a post published on social media platform X, Velayati stated that recent regional developments were shaped by the endurance of Iran’s armed forces, the steadfastness of the Iranian public, and the courage of the “Axis of Resistance.”

The advisor declared that the perceived failure of the United States and Israel reinforces the necessity for foreign forces—whom he labeled as the primary drivers of instability—to exit the region entirely.

“Regional countries can ensure security through growing cooperation,” Velayati wrote, appending hashtags referencing the strategic waterways of the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait.
