WANA (Jun 06) – Ali Akbar Velayati, the Iranian Leader’s senior adviser on international affairs, said the emerging regional power architecture will not be based on weakening the resistance movement, warning that any belief in achieving lasting peace through unilateral concessions is a strategic mistake.

 

Velayati stated that what Western strategists had long viewed as a historic fear—the rise of Iran as a major regional power—has now become a reality, leading to the formation of a new balance of power in the region.

 

Referring to reports and analyses by Western media outlets, including Reuters and The Guardian, he said their acknowledgment that U.S. President Donald Trump needs an interim agreement to secure the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz reflects the failure of the strategy of threats and pressure against Iran and the success of the resistance in shaping new regional realities.

 

The adviser further warned that some regional actors are making a major strategic miscalculation by placing their hopes in what he described as the “mirage of compromise,” believing that security and stability can be achieved through concessions and reliance on external guarantees.

 

He stressed that recent regional developments have demonstrated that sustainable peace emerges from a balance of power and credible deterrence, rather than from unsupported commitments, adding that “diplomatic wishful thinking carries a heavy cost.”
