Venezuela Summons Iranian Ambassador
WANA (Jul 29) – Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry has summoned Iran’s ambassador to Caracas and delivered a formal diplomatic protest over what it described as “disrespectful and inappropriate remarks” directed at Venezuelan institutions and officials.
The ministry announced the move in a statement posted on its official social media accounts, but did not disclose further details about the remarks that prompted the protest.
According to several media reports, the reaction was triggered by comments attributed to Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi during an online interview.
In the reported remarks, Araghchi said that Iran would not approach negotiations with the United States in the same way as Caracas, stressing that “Iran is not Venezuela.”
