WANA (Oct 31) – The Head of the Hormozgan Judiciary announced the seizure of a vessel carrying 240,000 liters of smuggled fuel by the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the Persian Gulf.

Mojtaba Ghahremani stated that, under the order of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Qeshm, forces from the IRGC’s Zolfaqar Naval Unit identified and detained the vessel along with its crew.

During the inspection, 240,000 liters of smuggled fuel and several measuring meters were discovered and confiscated. The seized fuel has been handed over to the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company in accordance with judicial procedures to be returned to the legal distribution network.

Eleven individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. According to Ghahremani, the suspects remain in custody under bail bonds totaling more than 3 trillion rials, as the case proceeds on charges of organized fuel smuggling.

He emphasized that combating smuggling—particularly organized fuel smuggling—remains a key priority for the Hormozgan Judiciary. This objective is being pursued through the establishment of an operational task force against fuel smuggling, strengthened oversight, and intensified enforcement measures.
