WANA (Aug 29) – Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, Vice President of Lebanon’s Supreme Islamic Shiite Council, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Friday evening, August 28, in Tehran.

 

Al-Khatib, who is visiting Iran to attend the 40th International Islamic Unity Conference, expressed appreciation for Iran’s support of the Lebanese people, as well as its territorial integrity and national sovereignty against Israeli aggressors, describing Tehran’s stance as a source of encouragement and hope for Lebanon.

 

During the meeting, Sheikh Al-Khatib outlined the latest developments in Lebanon amidst ongoing attacks by the Israeli regime, commending the Islamic Republic of Iran’s principled positions in standing with the resilient population of Lebanon.

 

For his part, Foreign Minister Araghchi expressed gratitude for Sheikh Al-Khatib and his accompanying delegation’s participation in the Islamic Unity Conference.

 

Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s unwavering support for Lebanon’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, highlighting Tehran’s commitment to bringing an end to the war against Lebanon and pressing for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied Lebanese areas.

 

Araghchi also stressed the vital importance of fostering solidarity and unity among Islamic and regional nations to effectively counter genocide, warmongering, and expansionism by the Israeli regime, as well as to thwart destructive interventions in regional affairs.
