WANA (Mar 12) – The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of preventing the distortion of facts related to the war, stating that the country’s diplomatic apparatus has a responsibility to clearly explain Iran’s positions and prevent the falsification or misrepresentation of realities.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said one of the main responsibilities of the ministry is to clearly articulate the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, noting that the ministry serves as the voice of the Iranian people on the international stage.

He added that facts must not be allowed to be distorted or presented in a misleading way, stressing that this responsibility is important not only for informing the public today but also for preserving the truth for history.

Baghaei also pointed to the influential role of media in shaping international perceptions of countries. He said that in the global media environment, nations can easily be discredited, while facts are pushed aside and replaced with inaccurate narratives.

Referring to an incident involving a school in Minab, Baghaei stated that, according to Iran, a U.S. attack on the school resulted in the deaths of 170 schoolgirls. However, he said some media outlets have attempted to alter the narrative by claiming that the school was located near a military base or even by suggesting that Iran itself was responsible for the incident.

He stressed that such claims increase the responsibility of Iran’s diplomatic institutions to engage with media outlets, document events, and provide accurate information to prevent the distortion of facts.

Baghaei also noted that the matter has been pursued through international institutions, adding that since the early days of the incidents, communications and follow-ups have been carried out with the UN Secretary-General, the UN Security Council, human rights bodies, and organizations such as UNESCO and the World Health Organization.

According to him, in addition to documenting these events, the Foreign Ministry is also working to pursue the rights of the Iranian people in international forums and to hold discussions with various countries to clarify Iran’s positions.
