We Aim to Raise Iran-Pakistan Trade to Nearly $10 Billion
WANA (Aug 02) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, highlighting the strong trade relations between Iran and Pakistan, said the two countries are working to raise their economic exchanges to nearly $10 billion.
Speaking this morning before departing Tehran for Islamabad at the invitation of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pezeshkian noted that the two neighbors share deep and longstanding ties — not only in border, economic, trade, industrial, cultural, and scientific fields, but also through profound bonds of faith and belief.
He emphasized Pakistan’s firm stance during recent regional challenges, including what he described as the unlawful and unjust aggression of Israel and the United States against Iran. Pezeshkian praised the Pakistani government and parliament for strongly condemning the attacks and expressing readiness to provide any support necessary to safeguard Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The President underlined plans to expand border markets, develop land, air, and sea routes, and deepen commercial cooperation. He pointed to the potential for Iran to connect through Pakistan to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, as part of the modern Silk Road initiative.
“We already enjoy very good trade relations, and we are determined to elevate these ties to nearly $10 billion,” Pezeshkian stated, adding that the trip will also focus on strengthening border and security cooperation to ensure regional stability through joint efforts.
He warned that external actors have sought to sow division among Muslim nations by fueling internal conflicts, stressing that Iran and Pakistan must work together to counter these efforts and foster greater unity.
President Pezeshkian’s official visit to Pakistan, beginning Saturday, August 2, includes high-level meetings as well as engagements with cultural and business leaders. The agenda covers political, economic, religious, and cultural cooperation, alongside provincial and border development initiatives, with a central goal of boosting trade beyond the current $3 billion.
