Why Is Israel So Eager to Buy TikTok?
WANA (Oct 16) – “Social media is our weapon.” That’s how Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described his country’s approach in a recent meeting with a group of pro-Israel American influencers. But behind that blunt statement lies a deeper strategy: securing dominance over the platforms that shape the worldview of the next generation — and at the top of that list is TikTok.
Over the past two years, TikTok has unexpectedly become a powerful arena for exposing the realities of the Gaza war. Millions of young Americans now consume content not from mainstream Western networks, but from the rubble of Khan Younis and Jabalia — raw, firsthand footage that reshapes their moral perception of the conflict. The result?
According to credible U.S. polls, more than 60% of Gen Z openly support Palestine and describe Israel’s actions in Gaza as “immoral.” This generational rift in American public opinion poses a strategic alarm for Israel, since Washington’s unconditional support for Tel Aviv ultimately depends on domestic political legitimacy.

As anti-war sentiment grows online, Washington’s efforts to rein in TikTok have accelerated. The latest proposal, presented under the “Data Security Act,” has a clear goal: to hand over control of TikTok’s algorithms to Oracle — the tech giant led by Larry Ellison, one of Israel’s most committed financial backers.
If such a transfer of management goes through, the flow of content on TikTok would effectively fall under a structure aligned with Israeli interests. That could mean a quiet rewriting of the narrative — from filtering out footage from Gaza to amplifying voices defending Israeli policies.
For Israel, TikTok is far more than an entertainment app. It’s a battlefield of perception — where every video, hashtag, and trend can tilt the world’s dominant narrative. That’s why Netanyahu has reportedly referred to TikTok as “the most strategic acquisition” in play.

On a broader level, this move fits into a long-running American effort to discipline the free arena of online storytelling — a process that began with Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, and has now reached its final stronghold: TikTok.
Whether the deal goes through remains uncertain. But one thing is clear: the wars of the future won’t be fought on battlefields, but in algorithms and news feeds.
For Israel, winning that war means keeping its official narrative alive in the minds of Gen Z — a generation that, if lost to TikTok, may never be won back.

$7000 Per Post: Israel’s Whitewashing Project with Americans
WANA (Oct 02) – Newly released documents reveal that the Israeli government has been paying American influencers up to $7,000 for each supportive post on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, in an effort to counter declining public support in the United States.
