WANA (Jul 06) – The withdrawal of at least 11 U.S. aerial refueling aircraft from West Asia has been confirmed, drawing attention as reports emerge of a reduction in part of Washington’s regional air support capabilities.

 

According to a military source, at least 11 U.S. aerial refueling aircraft have departed the region. The move comes amid reports indicating that the United States has scaled back part of its air support infrastructure in West Asia.

 

Some analysts view the development as a sign that Washington may be reassessing its military and security calculations in the region. They believe the adjustment in U.S. air support assets could reflect updated assessments of regional dynamics and Iran’s potential responses.

 

Abdolreza Sediq, a military affairs analyst, said the United States decided to reduce part of its military presence after reassessing the resilience of the Islamic Republic and receiving reports on the large public turnout at the funeral ceremonies for Iran’s late Leader.

 

He added that U.S. officials became increasingly concerned about the possibility of an Iranian response following reports describing the public mood during the funeral ceremonies and, as a result, chose to remove some of their high-value military assets from the region, including aerial refueling aircraft.
