WANA (Oct 08) – The Iranian and Chinese national table tennis teams competed in the Asian Championship, which commenced with a significant victory by Iranian player Benyamin Faraji.

 

On the second day of the championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Iran’s men’s team faced China in the quarterfinals today. The match is currently underway in the second game, following Faraji’s win in the first game.

 

The 14-year-old player took on world number one Wang Chuqin and triumphed with a score of 3-2, despite Wang holding the gold medal in team and mixed doubles from the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.

 

Benyamin Faraji is currently the top-ranked junior table tennis player in the world.

 

This match against China marks Iran’s first encounter in the Asian Championship.

 

Coach Jamil Lotfollah Nasabi included Noshad Alamiyan and Mohammad Mousavi in the national team lineup for today’s match.
