WANA (Feb 17) – Royan Institute, with an innovative and interdisciplinary approach, will host the 8th Cryobiology Symposium titled “Applied Cryobiology Engineering” on February 27, 2025, in person at its conference hall.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Royan Institute, this symposium aims to introduce the latest scientific and technological advancements in the field of cryobiology engineering, as well as to strengthen scientific interactions and discussions among researchers, professors, physicians, and students from various fields including basic sciences, medicine, and engineering. The lectures at this scientific event will be delivered by prominent national and international experts from Australia and Canada.

The scientific secretary of this symposium is Dr. Somayeh Tavana, while the executive secretaries are Mrs. Maryam Jahangiri and Mr. Peyman Palai.

The key topics of the symposium in the innovative fields include:

Tissue Engineering: Cryobiology printing, Cryogel scaffolds, Microencapsulation

Microfluidics: On-chip freezing, On-chip assessment, Micromachining

Nanomaterials: Nanoparticles, Nanoparticle-based thawing,

This symposium not only offers a unique opportunity to update and enhance knowledge in emerging fields such as microchips and nanotechnology, but it also specifically emphasizes the practical applications of cryobiology engineering and the exchange of experiences among specialists.

In addition to the scientific programs, the symposium will feature specialized practical workshops on cellular and tissue freezing, providing a golden opportunity for participants to learn advanced laboratory skills. The specialized workshops include:

  • Retrieval of motile sperm in PVP medium using the balloon method for patients with severe OAT during sperm freezing
  • Freezing and cell culture
  • Sperm freezing

Participants in the symposium’s auxiliary workshops will receive special discounts and be exempt from paying registration fees for the symposium.

The student section of this event, titled “The 5th Student Cryobiology Symposium,” will be held separately to introduce students to the fascinating world of cryobiology.
