Commemorating The Late Iran President
WANA (June 27) – Iranians gathered in the capital, Tehran, to pay tribute to the late Iran President Ebrahim Raesi in a ceremony marking the 40th day since his tragic death in a helicopter crash. (It is common in Iran to mark the 40th day of passing.)
Top Iranian officials and political figures attended the ceremony. High-ranking foreign officials, as well as Raesi’s family, were also present at the ceremony.
The late Iran president’s wife, Jamileh Alam-Ol-Hoda, thanked all those who sympathized with her family after Ebrahim Raeisi’s martyrdom.
“In these forty days that passed, different groups of people, scholars, martyrs’ families, noble ladies of Iran, heroic people of the Muslim countries, people from distant countries, all of them, cried with us. They sympathized with us. It is impossible to thank you for your magnanimity and grandeur, but I know it is my duty to thank you.”
Alam-ol-Hoda also highlighted the importance of system of governance in Iran. “The Islamic Republic actually serves as the best model for governance in the world that turns people and its followers into a family; it’s our bond with a father. Iran’s Leader is the father of all of us and Martyr Raeisi was the son of this father and the son of this nation and he was a brother to you.”
Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah addressed the issue via video link from Beirut, hailing the country for taking the upheaval in its stride with fortitude and composure. “The Islamic Republic of Iran emerged proudly and admirably from this tragic incident and presented an advanced and lofty model that is strong in facing all challenges.”
He described Iran as the “strong fortress of resistance” against oppressors, saying the Islamic establishment serves as a role model. Nasrallah linked the region’s future to the fate of the Islamic Republic of Iran and urged Iranians to choose wisely in the upcoming snap presidential elections.
The Leader of the Islamic Jihad Movement, Ziyad al-Nakhalah, lauded the late President and foreign minister’s efforts to promote the Palestinian cause in international forums in the wake of Israel’s genocide in Gaza. He said, “In recent years, the martyred President Ebrahim Raeisi and Foreign Minister Amir-Abdullahian helped the resistance and the region’s people achieve remarkable and great successes.
They built bridges for the regional nations and united their positions towards Palestine. This was a real success for the countries of the region and the Palestinian people. We always remember the support of the Iranian people and the Islamic Republic of Iran during the Al-Aqsa flood. And, we will never forget the positions of the martyred President Ebrahim Raeisi and his foreign minister in supporting Palestine.”
Earlier in the day, a similar ceremony was held in Tehran to honour Amir-Abodollahin. Raeisi and Amir-Abodollahin lost their lives alongside their companions in a helicopter crash in northwestern Iran on May 19.
