Iran’s SCO and BRICS Membership: Raisi’s Strategic Move
WANA (July 21) – Ali Bagheri Kani, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the successful outcomes of Iran’s strategic foreign policy under the late President Raisi, particularly Iran’s membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS.
Bagheri Kani remarked, “We have 15 neighboring countries with which we often have cultural, political, and economic differences. The 13th Government has successfully implemented a good-neighbor policy, fostering positive regional developments.”
Another key aspect of the 13th Government’s foreign policy is its emphasis on multilateralism in the international system. He mentioned that even Americans have realized that unilateralism is not a solution but a dead end, as it cannot address the global community’s issues.
The emphasis on multilateralism began with Iran’s accession to the SCO and culminated in our membership in BRICS, showcasing the intelligence of the 13th Government’s foreign policy and the personal vision of the late President Raisi. BRICS represents the largest commercial framework outside unilateralism, and Iran has become a strategic partner alongside other BRICS members, he said.
