WANA (July 22) – Safari, Deputy of Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, announced that the Iran-Saudi Arabia Joint Commission will be held soon. He highlighted the importance of transit as a powerful tool for export, import, and technology transfer, emphasizing that proper routes and customs frameworks can boost transit growth.

 

He noted the completion of the Astarachay Bridge after 50 years, now serving as the gateway to Russia, Central Asia, and the Caucasus. The North-South Corridor has five ongoing alternatives, with the Caspian port and Incheh Borun issues resolved, and the Amirabad port expected to be completed within six months.

 

The Chabahar agreement was finalized after several years, and a currency agreement with Russia has been in the works for two years, soon enabling the use of Mir and Shetab cards in Russia.

 

Safari also discussed the benefits of BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organization memberships, highlighting the significance of bilateral meetings between leaders that positively impact economic relations.

 

He announced that within the next two to three months, the joint commission with Saudi Arabia will take place, and he has invited Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Investment to visit Iran and explore new technologies. He noted Saudi Arabia’s eagerness for economic cooperation.
