WANA (July 22) – Iran’s Minister of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare, Mortazavi, announced a significant decrease in the country’s unemployment rate, which has reached 7.8 percent—the lowest in four decades.

In response to a question about which achievement he would rate highest, Mortazavi emphasized the ministry’s success in employment under the current administration. He highlighted that this milestone represents a major accomplishment.

Mortazavi also noted a shift from previous administrations, where labour ministers often claimed they were not responsible for employment. He clarified in Parliament that the Minister of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare holds this responsibility.

Ahead of his detailed report to the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mortazavi expressed his gratitude and sought forgiveness from the large community of workers and retirees.
