WANA (July 26) – The recent meeting of Palestinian groups in Beijing has drawn a reaction from Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani. Fourteen Palestinian groups recently reached an agreement in Beijing to form a temporary national unity government in Gaza after the war.

Today (Friday, July 26), Nasser Kanaani remarked, “The recent meeting of Palestinian groups in Beijing, aimed at achieving national reconciliation and agreement, is a valuable initiative and a step in the right direction.”

The spokesperson emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran firmly supports the aspirations of the Palestinian people and the consensus of Palestinian groups in their struggle against the apartheid regime of Israel.

Iran backs their collective efforts toward exercising their fundamental right to self-determination, achieving freedom for all of historic Palestine, and establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

According to this agreement, Palestinian groups, including Fatah, Hamas, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Palestinian People’s Party, the Palestinian Popular Struggle Front, and the Palestinian National Initiative, among others, agreed in Beijing to strive for comprehensive national unity within the framework of the Palestine Liberation Organization.

They remain committed to establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, based on UN resolutions, and ensuring the right of return to their homes.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres welcomed the “Beijing Declaration,” calling it an important step toward strengthening Palestinian unity.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry also recently expressed its support for the “Beijing Declaration” aimed at uniting Palestinian groups.
