Iran Responded to Statement by Australia, New Zealand, and Canada Against Tehran
WANA (July 30 ) – The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has criticized the recent joint statement issued by Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. The statement addressed the previous Israeli airstrike on Iran’s diplomatic headquarters and simultaneously condemned Iran’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
Nasser Kanaani, the Iranian spokesperson, highlighted the dual approach of these countries in selectively applying international norms. He noted that their support for the apartheid regime of Israel exacerbates regional tensions rather than alleviating them. Kanaani emphasized that this biased stance not only fails to reduce conflict but also emboldens the aggressor, leading to increased brutality and war crimes by the Israeli regime in Gaza.
Kanaani further added that the baseless accusations by the prime ministers of Australia, New Zealand, and Canada are particularly egregious given their countries’ role in supplying arms to Israel. He argued that this complicity makes them partners in the war crimes committed by the Israeli occupying regime against the oppressed Palestinian people.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has condemned the support of Australia, New Zealand, and Canada for the Israeli occupation in Palestine, stating that their stance undermines regional stability and security. By ignoring the legitimate and historical right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, these countries contribute to ongoing tensions.
The spokesperson, Nasser Kanaani, also pointed out the dark history of these countries in the region, citing their direct and indirect involvement in bloody and aggressive wars against Iraq and Afghanistan.
Kanaani reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to the principles and objectives of the UN Charter and international law. He stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran will act decisively to protect its national security and legitimate interests against any unlawful use of force.
