WANA (July 30) – Emomali Rahmon, the President of Tajikistan, along with his delegation, arrived in Tehran to attend the presidential inauguration ceremony and met with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

 

In the meeting with President Emomali Rahmon and his delegation, Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, emphasized that the main policy and priority of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to expand relations with regional countries, especially those that share the same language, culture, history, and religion. He stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is, as always, ready for sincere cooperation with Tajikistan in various fields.

 

The Supreme Leader noted that there are opponents to the expansion of relations between Iran and Tajikistan, and there should be plans to counter them.

 

In this meeting, which was also attended by First Vice President Mr. Aref, President Emomali Rahmon expressed great pleasure at meeting the Supreme Leader again. He referred to his discussions with Mr. Pezeshkian and said, “As you mentioned a few years ago, the two countries are kin, and we are eager to further expand our relations and benefit from the experiences and advancements of the Islamic Republic in health, industry, and science.”

 

President Rahmon also highlighted some of his efforts to promote the Persian language in Tajikistan.

 

Additionally, Emomali Rahmon, along with his delegation, met with Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, in Baharestan shortly before this meeting.

 

It is noteworthy that the President of Tajikistan arrived in the country this morning at Mehrabad International Airport to attend the inauguration ceremony of the 14th presidential term.
