WANA  (July 31) – In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Ali Bagheri condemned the “cowardly” assassination of the renowned Palestinian resistance leader, Ismail Haniyeh.

Bagheri, a prominent Iranian diplomat, asserted that the attack on Haniyeh—a longtime ally of General Qassem Soleimani—would only strengthen the resolve of the Palestinian people, the broader Muslim world, and all advocates of freedom in their struggle against occupation and genocide.

Haniyeh, a key figure in the Palestinian leadership and a leading advocate for the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people was a formal guest at the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s newly elected president.

The terrorist act perpetrated by the current occupying regime in Palestine, according to Bagheri, represents a gross violation of international law, the United Nations Charter and an affront to Iran’s national security and territorial integrity.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has strongly condemned this despicable criminal act and reiterated its right to an appropriate response.

Bagheri also called on the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its responsibility to address the threats to international peace and security posed by the ongoing terrorist and aggressive actions of the Israeli occupation regime.
