WANA (August 03) – Akbar Ganji, a prominent figure of the reformist front and a staunch opponent of the Islamic Republic of Iran residing in the United States, refuted Washington’s claim of non-involvement in the assassination of martyr Ismail Haniyeh. He wrote:

The U.S. government has stated that it had no role in Haniyeh’s assassination. Is this claim valid?

According to a law passed by the U.S. Congress, the American government is obligated to maintain Israel’s strategic military superiority over the entire Middle East.

This goal is achieved through financial aid, ultra-modern weaponry, intelligence, security, political, and propaganda support. For instance, in 2024 alone, the U.S. has given Israel $30 billion.

Over the past nine months, the U.S. has provided Israel with the most modern and destructive weapons to use against the civilian population of Gaza.

Joe Biden, in an interview with CNN, admitted that powerful bombs provided by the U.S. had killed civilians and children in Gaza.

When Israel assassinated senior Iranian military officials at the Iranian consulate in Damascus and Iran brought the case to the UN Security Council, the U.S. vetoed the condemnation of Israel by the Security Council.

The International Criminal Court intended to issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders for war crimes.

The U.S. Congress and government fiercely threatened the ICC prosecutors and judges, warning of severe repercussions if they proceeded.

After Haniyeh’s assassination in Tehran, likely with two Spike NLOS anti-tank missiles, the U.S. Secretary of Defense declared that “the U.S. will defend Israel against any type of retaliation.”

We live in a double-standard world where Israel is the protected entity of Western governments, and the U.S. and Western states will support any crime or violation of international law it commits.

Three months remain until the U.S. presidential and congressional elections. The primary competition in U.S. elections has always been about who can serve Israel more.

Trump continually lies, claiming that Kamala Harris is an anti-Israel Zionist, saying if he were president, Hamas wouldn’t attack Israel, nor would Hezbollah and the Houthis, and Iran wouldn’t send drones and missiles to Israel in response to Israeli terrorist attacks.

Haniyeh’s assassination in Tehran is a significant electoral asset for the Democrats. The U.S. government will never officially announce this to avoid consequences (such as Iran and its allies’ reactions and, more importantly, young people who have said they will not vote in the elections due to Biden’s full support of Israel’s genocide in Gaza).

However, privately, they tell all Jewish leaders in the U.S.: “This assassination was carried out with our full support, and without us, Haniyeh wouldn’t have been killed.”

American Jewish leaders will continue their substantial financial support for the Democrats in the elections and inform their supporters to vote for the Democrats.

Let’s not forget, just a few days ago, Trump asked: “I don’t know why American Jews vote for the Democrats?”
