WANA (August 10)Saudi Arabia failed to secure any medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, despite heavy investments in football. The country’s lack of success in other sports was highlighted by this medal drought.

The closest Saudi Arabia came to winning a medal was in women’s taekwondo, where Dana Abutaleb lost to Iran’s Mobina Nemat Zadeh, dashing their final hope.

Since Saudi Arabia’s Olympic debut in 1972, the nation has won only four medals across 13 editions. This is not the first time the country has left the Olympics empty-handed, having also missed out on medals in Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, and Rio 2016.

In contrast, countries like Zambia, Peru, Cape Verde, Slovakia, and Egypt secured at least one bronze, while Saudi Arabia remained without a spot on the medal table.
