WANA (August 13) – As part of ongoing efforts by Washington to prevent an Iranian attack on Israel, the U.S. Ambassador to Turkey, Jeff Flake, announced that the United States is urging Ankara to persuade Tehran to de-escalate the situation.

“We are asking all our allies who have any relationship with Iran to convince them to reduce tensions, including Turkey,” Ambassador Flake stated yesterday during a press briefing in Turkey.

These remarks come at a time when the Israeli military is on high alert, fearing retaliation from Iran following its alleged involvement in the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. The United States and its allies, while claiming to seek de-escalation in the Middle East, are pressuring Iran not to respond to this act of aggression.

In recent days, leaders from the U.S., France, the UK, Germany, and Italy have issued statements reaffirming their support for Israel. These statements have notably refrained from condemning Israel’s actions and have instead called on Iran to refrain from any military action against Tel Aviv.

In response to these statements, Nasser Kanaani, spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, asserted today that Iran is firm and determined to defend its sovereignty and national security and does not seek permission from anyone to exercise its rights.

He further criticized the international community’s indifference to the actions of Israel’s supporters, stating, “Genocide and war crimes against the Palestinian people continue due to the indifference of countries backing the Israeli regime.”
