Iran Railways: Zero Tolerance for Trespassing
WANA (August 17) – The Iranian Railways Authority has issued a strong statement in response to an alleged breach of its railway boundaries by a private Afghan rail consortium, emphasizing that no entity—domestic or foreign—is above the law in Iran.
Key points from the statement include:
1. All rail vehicles, including locomotives and wagons, operating within the Iranian rail network must have explicit authorization and comply with the regulations set by the Iranian Railways Authority.
2. The authority made it clear that these rules apply to everyone—individuals and corporate entities, regardless of nationality.
3. The statement detailed a recent illegal incursion by members of the Afghan Rail Consortium into Iranian railway territory. When Iranian railway staff intervened, they were reportedly assaulted, and their vehicle was damaged by the intruders.
4. The Afghan consortium allegedly took control of the Miyan Tak station on Iranian soil without permission, forcibly entering the premises after breaking the locks.
5. The authority addressed a viral video claiming a locomotive was in danger, clarifying that the locomotive was stationary and never at risk. The video was described as a fabricated attempt to generate media pressure after the consortium faced legal action for its unlawful activities.
The Iranian Railways Authority concluded by reiterating that all rail operations within Iran must adhere to its regulations, and no person or entity is exempt from these laws.
