WANA (Aug 19) – On the third day of reviewing the qualifications of proposed ministers in Masoud Pezeshkian’s cabinet, the focus shifted to one of the most crucial ministries in the fourteenth administration as the Parliament scrutinized the proposed Minister of Defense.

After the speeches by both supporters and opponents, it was Amir Nasirzadeh’s turn to take the podium and defend his plans. In his address to the Parliament, Nasirzadeh expressed his gratitude for Pezeshkian’s trust, the support of the armed forces, especially the Chief of the General Staff, and the feedback from both supporters and critics, stating that he would take all opinions into account.

Analyzing the country’s surrounding environment, he stated: “Currently, the regional and global conditions in various areas of power, particularly in security and defense, are rapidly changing.”

Nasirzadeh continued, “New and unexpected technologies are emerging, and the dynamics of regional security and order are becoming increasingly complex and turbulent. The region and the world have rejected the unipolar order led by the United States and are moving toward a new order with the emergence of new powers like the Islamic Republic of Iran. In such conditions, the global arrogance and its regional proxies have intensified their military, political, psychological, cultural, and economic pressures on the Resistance Front and the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

He also remarked, “The Zionist regime, after Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, has exposed its illegitimate and irresponsible nature by committing various war crimes against the Palestinian people and carrying out assassinations, crossing all red lines. Without active deterrence, the enemy would have undoubtedly attacked our country. It is deterrence and power that have prevented the enemy from acting recklessly.”

Addressing the needs of the armed forces and the realization of the President’s policies, Nasirzadeh emphasized that, in coordination with the General Staff and related organizations, all existing and potential academic and scientific capacities in the country will be utilized.

Regarding the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh and the subsequent retaliation, he assured that it will happen, but with rationality.
