Iran’s Team Takes 2nd in 2024 Chem-E-Car Contest
WANA (Aug 24) – A team of engineers from Amirkabir University of Technology designed a vehicle for the 2024 Chem-E-Car World Competition and achieved second place.
Chem-E-Car is an innovative global competition for chemical engineering and related fields, organized annually by chemical engineering societies worldwide.
Participants in the Chem-E-Car competition are tasked with building vehicles with specific systems and dimensions that can travel a designated course.
The propulsion and braking of these vehicles must be powered by chemical reactions that do not harm the environment, producing no hazardous gases or liquids, and without using any commercial batteries.
This year’s competition featured 15 teams, with Amirkabir University’s team being the only representative from Iran. The team designed and produced a vehicle powered by an electrochemical reaction for movement and another chemical reaction for braking.
Additionally, participants were required to submit a poster for each vehicle, detailing the mechanisms and reactions powering the car, safety measures in the design, and the creativity and innovation involved in their design process.
