WANA (Aug 26) – Mahdi Chamran, President of the Tehran City Council, will travel to Moscow on Tuesday for the BRICS International Cities Summit.

 

Accompanied by Ali Asghar Qaemi, a member of the Transportation and Traffic Commission, Chamran will participate in a four-day event focused on fostering network cooperation among BRICS countries and their counterparts in Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa, with a special emphasis on climate issues.

 

Chamran is scheduled to deliver speeches at the opening ceremony and at sessions on parliamentary diplomacy and climate action.

 

The summit, supported by the Russian Federation President, Roscongress, the Russian Foreign Ministry, and the Moscow government, aims to advance international urban and parliamentary cooperation and innovative approaches to sustainable policy development.

 

The event, which has been a fixture in the BRICS calendar since 2020, will host approximately 5,000 delegates from over 100 countries and 80 Russian regions. In addition to the main program, there will be a B2B and B2G exhibition, business conferences, press events, and presentations from BRICS cities and other participants.
