WANA (Aug 29) – For the first time, Iran’s men’s lifesaving team secured a medal at the World Lifesaving Championships which is an international competition held biennially by the International Lifesaving Federation (ILS).

 

This event showcases lifesaving skills such as rescue swimming, using lifesaving equipment, and handling critical water emergencies in various environments, including pools and coastal areas. Competitors from around the globe participate in individual and team categories.

 

Competing in the pool event, the duo of Seyed Mohammad Hosseini and Amir Arsalan Zarei achieved this historic milestone.

 

The World Lifesaving Championships, held in Gold Coast, Australia, saw the Iranian team excel in the rope throw event.

 

After advancing from strong competitors to the final, they earned a silver medal, marking Iran’s first podium finish in this global competition.


In addition to evaluating lifesaving skills and tactics, these championships play a vital role in raising awareness about water safety.
