WANA (Sep 01) – Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, stated that the assassination of the head of Hamas’ political bureau was an attempt to provoke Iran, emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran will never succumb to provocative actions.

The Russian Foreign Minister pointed out that, at present, Tel Aviv seems to be the only party eager to ignite a large-scale war between Iran and Israel, with the involvement of neighboring countries.

He stated that Israel does not conceal its intention to exploit the current conditions and opportunities in the region.

Lavrov further noted that the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran was an act aimed at provoking Iran. He added that while Western powers are attempting to provoke Iran, the country is determined not to yield to these provocations and resolutely intends to avoid a major war.

He also referred to the ongoing efforts to normalize relations between Ankara and Damascus, indicating that in the foreseeable future, Russia, Iran, Turkey, and Syria might hold a meeting to facilitate negotiations between Ankara and Damascus.
