Iran Won Second Gold at Paris 2024 Paralympics, Total Hits 11
WANA (Sep 03) – At the end of the fourth and fifth days of the Paris 2024 Paralympics, Iran achieved its second gold medal and raised its total medal count to 11.
On the fourth day, Iran’s delegation earned a bronze medal in para-athletics, with Alireza Mokhtari securing the podium in the para-athlon.
The fifth day saw further success for Iran as Mehdi Olad and Amirhossein Alipour competed in the F11 shot put event. Alipour clinched the gold medal with a throw of 14.78 meters, breaking the Asian record with his second attempt of 14.71 meters. Olad also performed admirably, winning the silver medal with a throw of 13.89 meters.
In compound archery, the mixed team of Hadi Nouri and Fatemeh Hemmati faced off against the British archers. The first round ended with a narrow 39-38 victory for Britain. In the second round, Iran equalized with a 39-38 win. However, Iran lost the third round 36-38 and the fourth round 40-38, leading to a final score of 155-151 in favour of Britain. Despite the loss, Iran’s archery team earned the silver medal, finishing as the runner-up.
Previously, Fatemeh Hemmati won a silver medal in the women’s individual compound archery event.
