WANA (Sep 03) – Iran’s Senior Advisor to the Foreign Minister, Ali Asghar Khaji, expressed optimism that the resumption of targeted dialogue between Turkey and Syria could lead to progress in peace and stability between the two countries and in the region.

In a recent video conference, the UN Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, and Iran’s Senior Advisor for Special Political Affairs discussed Syria’s latest political, economic, and field developments.

They focused on issues such as counter-terrorism efforts, Israeli crimes in Gaza, the expansion of Israeli attacks on Syria, the humanitarian crisis in the country, and the need to continue the Syrian political process.

Ali Asghar Khaji, Iran’s Senior Foreign Minister Advisor, noted the ongoing expansion of aggressive Israeli attacks on Syria, attributing their continuation to the regime’s inherently aggressive nature and its support for terrorists in Syrian territory.

Khaji reiterated Iran’s commitment to resuming targeted dialogue to resolve political differences between Turkey and Syria, expressing hope that this would advance peace and stability in the region.

Pederson also used the video call to update the group on his latest efforts to develop a step-by-step plan and discuss developments related to the resumption of constitutional committee meetings.
